Hey guys,
I don’t have a review or an update on a game for you guys today but I do have a little piece of information that you might find fascinating. As of March 3rd, 2011, online gaming will be blocked between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. in the Southeast Asian nation, more specifically, Vietnam.
Apparently, the Ministry of Information and Communication is banning online gaming during the nighttime because they claim that it will “mitigate the side effects of online games.” They didn’t share what exactly the side effects were but they did include that they would be asking internet service providers to block all online gaming daily from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
This isn’t the first time that something this drastic has happened though. Last fall, the Ministry of Information and Communication began cutting down internet access to PC gamers at night.
It comes to no surprise that PC gamers and ISPs (Internet Service Providers) that don’t oblige to the new rules will suffer extreme consequences. Le Nam Thang, ministry deputy minister said “Provincial departments of information and communication will inspect online game activities nationwide and deal with organizations that violate regulations by cancelling their services.”
It is said that this will only be “temporary” and that if people comply and co-operate then the normal internet access at night will be reinstated in the “near future”. It’s ridiculous though because 26 % of the Vietnamese population uses internet….
