In time, fire will fade... and only dark will remain.

From Software's followup to their PS3-Exclusive Demon's Souls has finally been touched up on. No, it isn't Demon's Souls 2, but it is. The game is titled Dark Souls, and follows the same idea as Demon's Souls did for the most part, with many exciting additions and improvements.
One of the major differences between the two is the open world. In Demon's Souls, there was a hub called "The Nexus" which led to 5 different places to travel to. In Dark Souls, there is no such hub. It is a massive world map, which From Software has beautifully developed and focuses a lot more on exploration.
The combat system in Dark Souls is similar, but much improved on, and allows a lot more customization than Demon's Souls already had.
The uniue and innovative Online system that Demon's Souls had will be returning, just as everyone had hoped, although that has also been "highly enhanced" as Chief Publishing Producer Kei Hirono states.
Many have described Demon's Souls as one of the most difficult games ever made, and it's been confirmed that Dark Souls will share that same difficulty, if not be even harder.
Finally, Dark Souls is developed by FROM SOFTWARE, and is being published by NAMCO-BANDAI, unlike Demon's Souls being published by ATLUS.
Dark Souls is not a Demon's Souls sequel, but shares all of the same glorious and unique things that PS3 owners bragged about.
Dark Souls will be released Fall 2011 on both the Playstation 3, and XBox 360.

Here is the beautiful and eerie final announcement trailer.
