Square Enix is looking to broaden their horizons throughout the great white north (Canada) and expanding their team! Although Square Enix’s Eidos Montreal studio hasn’t shipped a game yet, they’re looking at setting up a second studio in Montreal, according the La Presse (a French-Canadian magazine).
A representative from Square Enix said that they are hoping to place the studio within the next year or so, quite possibly by May and then they have a prospective opening date next year. Basically, the new studio will be focussing on development of the next generation of home consoles.
Square Enix commented and said that they’re looking to establish a new studio that’ll be employing at least 100 people. They are considering placing the studio within one the major cities in Canada: Vancouver (British Columbia), Montreal (Quebec), and Toronto (Ontario). They are looking to take advantage of the tax credits available within the province that will land the studio.
