Giveaways and contests are nothing new in the video game world, especially if you’re following your favourite publishers & developers on Twitter. But if you think of it, collectible items break, games get scratched and t-shirts get donated to Goodwill in a certain amount of time but getting your name in a video game, well that just lasts forever. Irrational Games has released a new BioShock Infinite contest titled “Get Your Name in the Game.” In the first BioShock you could see that the businesses were named after those in the Irrational team and now if you win this contest, your name will be forever remembered just as theirs were. Irrational is leaving a little bit of surprise for you though, they will be the ones deciding where your name would go.
“You could end up as the namesake of a building, a character, a business-whatever our artists come up with. It’s the ultimate bragging rights.”
The thought of having ones name forever immortalized is almost too much for even the most typical fan boys to die over which is why last night the ridiculous amount of entries was surprising to Irrational Games.
“The contest has proven popular. When it went live last night, the overwhelming response caused the contest page to crash, something that Irrational has now fixed.”
