Blizzard, the creators of Diablo 3 are hinting towards something that could dramatically change the face of the game for the rest of its existence. It is possible that Diablo 3 going to be released on the PS3 and the XBox 360!
According to an interview that MCV had with CEO Mike Morhaime, “We are looking for a couple of console developers, yes. At this stage though, it’s basically an investigation to see if it makes sense for Diablo to be a console game as well as a PC game.” Morhaime also stated “We haven’t made any decisions yet, but a lot of us feel that if ever there was a Blizzard franchise that could play as well as a console game, then [Diablo’s] probably it.”
This rumor isn’t news though because Blizzard had posted an ad on their website looking for a senior producer with top level console experience last month.
I know that this may come as a shocking surprise to the PC gamers who have been true and loyal fans of the franchise since the beginning of time but I honestly thing that this could either make or break the game. The thought of it being not as exclusive to the PC may ruin the look of the game and the developers may change a few key elements that make Diablo what it is. Though on the flip side, it’s slightly exciting to be able to play it on a console. If Diablo 3 gets integrated into console format I will definitely be picking it up solely because this would be my first PC to console game that I’ve ever played.
Also, I’ve read that a lot of PC gamers are complaining about the lack of exclusive titles to the PC that they get to play. Though I challenge them to turn around and take a look at their hard drives because PC gamers have been allowed to be a part of the most popular MMORPG’s of all time, World of Warcraft. There are also a dozen other titles that are exclusive to the PC, hopefully Blizzard makes this jump.
