If you’re a fan of post-apocalyptic landscapes and a fun take on the world that Bethesda had created when they gave us Fallout 3/Fallout: New Vegas then you’ll definitely be interested in the live action series called Nuclear Coleslaw. The series takes place in the post-apocalyptic wasteland and it revolves around the life of “the Stranger” a young man wandering through the wasteland battling with the deeds of both good and evil. The series never fails to surprise the viewer as a simple potato/water trade can turn into bloodshed and in one of the episodes, the Stranger is confronted by a vampire-esque demon wanting a very valuable necessity that he has.
The really awesome thing about the series is that it doesn’t take an entirely serious approach to the story but it adds some humour as well, making it more enjoyable than most short series based on video games that we’ve watched. Nuclear Coleslaw isn’t into the habit of showing you ghoul heads exploding in slow mo or the real life details of a Pip-Boy because of the budget that director Tim Pape is working with. Though the budget isn’t to par of a hollywood film, we’re happy that Pape is turning the series into something far more advanced than your typical “video game gone movie.” With Nuclear Coleslaw, there’s actually a story and a meaning behind the plot rather than exploding heads and blood gushing out all over your screen. It really does take a new approach to fan made films.
Nuclear Coleslaw is up to its fifth episode and you can check out the five episodes starting HERE.
