We’ve had movies about zombies, about cheerleaders and now we actually have a video game about zombie slaying cheerleaders. Lollipop Chainsaw is a hack and slash game brought to you by Suda 51 and Warner Brothers which will throw you into a loop with the creativity and wacky action involved. You will be playing as Juliet Starling, a high school cheerleader and you’ll be going on a mission to slay zombies.
The game is rumoured to be released in the US, UK, Spain, Italy, Japan, Germany and Australia for the 360 and the PS3. You can check out the website, Facebook page, and Twitter for the game via the links below:
Quake and Doom may just be making a comeback, according to Jason Kim, senior producer at id Software. It has been ages since either of the two franchises have been touched (excluding Quake Arena Arcade for Xbox Live [2010]) and so freshening them up might just be a good idea for the people at id Software.
“We have Quake, we have Wolfenstein. If people want that, we have the IPs to deliver it. And we have a different approach now, we’re forging a new path. I think we can freshen those things up,” says Kim.
The next game to be coming out from these gaming giants is RAGE and it’s set to be released later on this year so it is a possibility that id Software is preparing to announce a new game within the next couple of months.
Kim also states, “We don’t have anything in the works right now but I think when we start talking about different things we can do with the other properties that we have I hope people are receptive to what we want to do and what we think would be fun for players to experience coming out of id Software.”
So we could very well be looking to see a revamp of an old school classic or something brand new.
F.3.A.R. (F.E.A.R. 3) is an upcoming first person-shooter that has been developed via Day 1 Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive for our three favourite gaming systems (PS3, 360, and PC). F.3.A.R. will be the third installment of the F.E.A.R. series and will be the sequel to the game F.E.A.R. 2: Project origin. This game was announced a few months ago (April 8th, 2010) and was set to be released in 2010 but has been pushed back to March of 2011 and then delayed again to May 24th of 2011.
F.3.A.R. is rumoured to have John Carpenter helping with the cinematics and Steve Niles who will be doing the writing aspect. First of all, let me ask who doesn’t want a game that involves John Carpenter? Legendary mastermind. It is also well known for its horrific themes and maps, so hopefully this one will scare us more than the first two.
According to Day 1 Studios’ founder and president Denny Thorley, F.3.A.R. is going to include various new features such as an evolved cover system, co-op missions and a ton of more scares for you to enjoy. In this game you will be able to control both the protagonist and the antagonist (Point Man and Paxton Fettel). When you are controlling Point Man you will be able to shoot enemies and slow time but as Fettel you will be assisting Point Man with your stun, possession, and telekinesis skills.
Nine months ago in the Northwestern US city of Fairport, an army of Replicas at the Armacham resaerch facility has been taken over by an unknown man and the F.E.A.R. Pointman and his squad were assigned to stop him. As time progresses, the Point Man realizes that this mysterious man isn’t working alone but is in fact working alongside his telepathic and cannibalistic brother, Paxton Fettel, and his psychically powerful mother, Alma Wade. Both of which who were products of Armacham Technology Corporation’s paranormal experiments. Even though the Point Man had realized this, he continued on with his mission to stop the designated targets. In order to stop them, the F.E.A.R. team went forward with a series of very intense events that seemingly accomplished their goal but it wasn’t for free. It was at the cost of ravaging the city and its inhabitants and most of the Point Man’s squad.
After all of that, events in Fairport in the following months lead to believe that Alma was still alive and that her psychic power could still be felt. Her supernatural agony is now repeatedly shocking the city as she attempts to protect the rest of her bloodline and reunite her family. This is where 2 teams come into play, Armacham’s security force and the F.E.A.R. squad working together. Armacham’s side is focussed on hiding any evidence of Alma’s presence in the city whereas the F.E.A.R. team carries out on their mission to find and stop Alma and her destructive behaviour.
The rest of the game is a struggle between good and evil. The chain of command is broken and the Point Man is forced to call his own shots and determine where his allegiance lies. He has a choice between siding with his brother Paxton Fettel (who is now back from the dead) or with his remaining F.E.A.R. squad ‘bros’ who are determined to destroy the only family that the first Origin prototype has ever had.
We have a plethora of trailers for you to watch so enjoy :)
Silent Hill has been around for as long as I can remember and we’re being given the eighth instalment of the series, Silent Hill: Downpour in Q3 of 2011. Though most would assume that a series as in depth and intense as Silent Hill would become repetitive, Downpour is going to give us a whole new horrifying storyline. Though once again, players will be engulfed in the dark and terrible world of Silent Hill where they are forced to face their deepest sins and most vivid fears.
The game is to be released on the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, it will be developed by Vatra (Rush’N Attack Ex-Patriot) and published by Konami. It will also be bringing forth the third-person perspective that we all know and love.
The plot revolves around a survival horror experience. Basically, a prison transport vehicle gets veered off of the road and it leaves inmate Murphy Pendleton stranded in Silent Hill. You will encounter brain boggling puzzles and terrifying creatures as you venture through the town. Much like many other RPG’s being released this year, you will be relying on standard every day tools (such as wooden chairs and glass bottles) to use as weaponry to fend off your enemies and defend yourself. This storyline is going to be for more of the hardcore Silent Hill fans that have been playing the series since it first started, it will also appeal to those who enjoy deep, psychological horror stories. Alongside the main quest, players will also have the chance to embark on various side quests and they change dependant on the paths that you take in the game and your play style.
Associate producer Tomm Hulett comments, “Having a compelling story is the key element to a good Silent Hill game. It’s what set SH1 apart from the other early survival horror games, why SH2 is so fondly remembered, and so on. Of course, an important aspect of this is how the story ties into the horrific things the player encounters.”
“We have this huge city at our disposal, yet in the past, it was comprised primarily of locked doors. We wanted to give players a bit more incentive to search around and check those doors without facing a constant barrage of discouraging locks.” Says producer Devin Shatsky as we explained the difference in Silent Hill: Downpour’s environment compared to the other games in the SH series.
A quote regarding the side missions reads “This gives the player a greater sense that they are ‘exploring the town’ and then rewarded with these mini-stories. We’ve been very careful to keep these immersive enough to make the player feel like they’re still a part of the main story, yet separate enough that they aren’t forced into completing all of them in a linear fashion to reach the ending,” commented Devin Shatsky.
Konami released a ton of screenshots from Silent Hill: Downpour that we’ll share with you guys.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have one sentence for you that will (hopefully) make you the happiest people on the face of the planet.
Mike Patton (Singer from Faith No More)
Mike Patton, yeah, the guy with the amazingly creepy and eerie voice from The Darkness...yeah he's going to be returning in The Darkness 2!
I'm so unbelievably happy that they were able to swing this, no one would have been able to compare.
Just thought I'd let you guys know!

Hey guys,
I was thinking of adding a new segment to the site called "Demo Days." It'd basically be one day a week where I would play a demo and post a review on it for your entertainment. You think it'd be a good idea?
Today I'm going to touch base on Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll. It is a Playstation exclusive that was released on February 8th, 2011. It was published by Tecmo KOEI (Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage and Quantum Theory) and developed by Omega Force (Destrega and all of the Dynasty Warriors). I hadn't heard any hype about this game but I did find it on the PS Store so I downloaded the demo anyways. I wasn't expecting much from the game but it did surprise me in good and bad ways.
Dagda
Overall it's your typical JRPG (Japanese Role Playing Game) in the sense that the format is quite like every other JRPG that there is out there. The dialogue between characters is text only, there aren't any voice overs and the characters are simply images that will refresh if the facial expressions change based on the dialogue...there's a lot of reading involved!
Areus
You're given a quest board which shows your current quests and what they entail. To actually embark on the quests, you select which one you would like to be your active quest and then you navigate to the world map, select where you want to go and it takes you there automatically. Unlike other RPG's, your world map isn't included with your character menu screen, it's a completely different sector.
When you're in a particular location you have various options to choose from such a: shops, mages guild, tavern, and adventurer's guild. Unfortunately, this game is anything but free-roaming so you don't get to explore the world, it takes you to your destination automatically. For some, that may seem like a good thing because I do know that most people (even when given the free roaming option in a RPG) like to fast travel to locations so that they don't have to walk for 20 minutes to get to somewhere on the map.
On your menu screen you have: status, skills, equipment, items, inventory, quests, data, and of course, options. Your character uses XP to level up and you do have a HP meter to monitor how quickly your health depletes in fights.
The fighting is one thing that I really enjoyed. I was expecting your typical turn base fighting that you see in most JRPGs, but with this one the fighting is similar to that of Castlevania. You have your enemies and you are capable of choosing whether you'd like to use your melee weapons or your spells. The movement is extremely fluid when fighting and when you're controlling your characters, fighting isn't a chore in the least. After defeating enemies, they do leave you objects/items to pick up and you simply run over them and they are added to your inventory.
Selene
I would have to say that this was my favourite aspect of Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll. You are able to control the members of your party. At the beginning of the game you have your main character (Areus) and two of his friends (Dagda and Selene). You're capable of handling all three of them and all three of them have specialty moves that you need throughout your quests. For example, Dagda is capable of lifting and kicking over pillars which can annihilate a copious amount of enemies all at once if you are surrounded and I do know that you can freeze lakes to be able to walk over them.
I was certainly impressed with what I had played and I for one am not a big fan of JRPGs, I'm more of a WRPG (Western Role Playing Game) player.
When you get a chance you should either download the demo (available for free on the PS Store) or pick up the game itself. You will most likely not be disappointed!
Here's a trailer for you guys and have a great Thursday, well, what's left of it anyway!
If you're into demon morphed humans, dark scenery, New York, and mobs then you're most likely familiar with a game called The Darkness. Well ladies and gents, be prepared for the release of the second installment, The Darkness 2. If you've played The Darkness then you know that 2K published it and Starbreeze Studios developed it, well, Starbreeze Studios won't be developing it this time around but 2K will be sticking to their publishing spot. This title will be developed by Digital Extremes, the Canadian developers who did Dark Sector, the multiplayer of BioShock 2 and the PC version of Homefront.
It was announced yesterday that The Darkness 2 is going to be released for the 360, PS3, and PC just like the first one and it'll be coming out by the end of this year. Of course, Jackie Estacado will remain as the main character and the story will be told from his narrative and his little demon friends/mystical power that tag along. This time around he's now the don of the Franchetti clan and you'll be getting a whole new story line.
In the first game, you know that Jackie's girlfriend dies by the hands of demons. In The Darkness 2, Jackie finally has his mental breakdown after attempting to be strong in The Darkness. This breakdown starts a huge mob war which opens up the perfect opportunity for "The Darkness" to emerge. It is said that Jackie will travel to "hell and worse" throughout The Darkness 2 (so I'm just taking a wild guess and saying that they're going to re-make Hell again). He'll also learn why his supernatural powers are they way they are and what motivates them.
The only thing that's still up in the air is if Faith No More's front man Mike Patton will return to be the voice of Jackie Estacado's inner demon, I'm hoping so...there's nothing I love more than an evil, groggy and rough voice.
The Darkness had elements of a first person shooter and a RPG all wrapped into one but the shooting aspect was just like your typical shooter...aim and fire. This time around, 2K has assured us that the shooting aspect is going to be unique and to die for. You're going to be able to 'quad-wield' which is basically allowing you to "slash, grab, and throw objects at enemies with their demon arms while simultaneously firing two weapons." Pretty cool, right?
That's all that we have for you guys right now but as usual, we WILL keep you updated!
