Here is all EA had to say about Battlefield 3 during their 2011 Press Conference at E3! This is the game that is suppose to compete with Modern Warfare 3. BF3 has a release date set August 25th, a bit earlier than MW3 which has definitely added to the competition between the two games!

Ubisoft Unveils Rocksmith
Everyone who’s played Guitar Hero knows that Activision has pulled the plug on making any more of the games in the series. We also know that the music scenery is definitely on a strong decline with the implementation of illegal downloading (although I often take part in that activity ;]).
Luckily, Ubisoft is here to save our music indulging needs with their unveiling of the new game that they’re going to be working on named Rocksmith. Rocksmith is said to include a fully-functioning electric guitar and songs by bands such as Nirvana, The Rolling Stones and my personal favourite, David Bowie. Rocksmith is looking to be launched in September of 2011 and it is said that the songs included will not be available of either RockBand or Guitar Hero.
Ubisoft will be taking a different approach with Rocksmith in comparison to Activision and Guitar Hero. “Guitar Hero is a party game, Rocksmith is a music experience,” states Ubisoft’s senior VP of marketing, Tony Key. “The dream of playing guitar compared to how many follow through -- there’s a big gap. We will create a new generation of guitar players,” Key says.
It is said that Ubisoft is going to be trying to make the guitar experience more realistic than strumming and pushing 5 coloured keys. They are going to be partnering up with Gibson and other guitar manufacturers in hopes of achieving the most realistic outcome as possible. Rock Band 3 by Harmonix made a similar approach when they released their Fender Stratocaster guitar peripheral but Ubisoft will be putting out an input jack that will allow “most” electric guitars to be compatible with Rocksmith.
As for my personal opinion, I’m afraid that this game may turn out to be something that kids ask their parents for during the Christmas season and then play it for a few months, afterwards keeping it in the back of their closets. I myself have attempted to play the guitar for several years but I just cannot seem to find the determination to keep trying. I enjoy the RockBand/Guitar Hero approach to where you don’t need a massive amount of skill in order to accomplish one song on “Hard.” Hopefully Ubisoft keeps that in mind!
