Portal 2 Map Contest Winners Announced

Posted by: Tiara Sleight

A little while ago, Valve was hosting a contest for Portal 2 fans to see who could make the most realistic and enthralling maps for the PC and Mac version of the game.  Guess what?  The panel of 13 judges came to a consensus and determined who the three winning maps are.  In first place we have Patent Pending, in second place Infinifling, and in third we have Edifice.

Those who won will be sent shirts, posters, and other amazing Portal 2 merch.

Though making a map may seem a little too advanced for some players, Valve still has their music video contest for their fans to enter and there still about 2 weeks left to throw something together if you guys are interested.

Follow these links to download the maps and to learn more about them:

3.  Edifice

Valve to have their own F2P?

Posted by: Tiara Sleight

Is Valve really planning to have free to play games coming out in the near future?  Half yes and half no.  We already know that Steam will be HOSTING free-to-play games and apparently via an interview with Doug Lombardi (VP of Marketing) he simply stated “yes” as an answer to whether Valve was working on their own independent free to play game.

DotA 2 is Valve’s own baby but there hasn’t been any confirmation whether the game will be free to play or not, so Lombardi could have been referring to that.  Considering that LoL (League of Legends) is an extremely successful free mmo and was developed by Steve Feak (original DotA: Allstars creator/Riot Games)…we have reason to think that DotA 2 may be f2p.
