RAGE Delayed Until October
Posted by: Tiara Sleight
RAGE, the first person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic landscape was set to be released in September of 2011 but it has been pushed back until October 4th, which isn’t THAT big of a deal considering that some games *cough*Duke Nukem*cough* took 14 years to get made. The sole reasoning for delaying the games release is to fix bugs and to polish off the graphics to ensure the product quality is at its best.

This is a smart move for id Software and Bethesda solely because there have been reports of Brink, the parkour style FPS, was released a week early and had a ton of glitches. Mind you, they were fixed a week later with a patch.
Needless to say, we will be awaiting the anticipated launch of RAGE.

Fallout: New Vegas Patch - FINALLY
One of the major things that made me put down Fallout: New Vegas was the copious amount of bugs in the game and without any patches I just didn’t want to bother (sorry Obsidian Entertainment gods).
We are glad to announce that Fallout: New Vegas’ senior producer Jason Bergman said they will be bringing forth “optimizations and stability improvements” in an update. The patch is currently being processed and will be coming to the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 within the next few weeks.
Within the post on the Bethesda blog it said that both Bethesda and Obsidian scoured the forums to see what their users were saying about the bugs and to see just what the needed to patch up to ensure a better quality of the game.
“We have fixed a great deal of the crashes and lockups that people were experiencing. In addition, we scoured the forums and this patch includes weapon balance tweaks and other requested fixes.”

Prey 2
On March 14th, 2011 Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax Media company announced that the sequel to Prey is scheduled for its release in 2012 and it will be multi platform (Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC).
The game is to be developed by Human Head Studios, the same studio that created Prey and it WILL be build on the id tech engine from id Software. That seems to be an ongoing trend with all of these new amazing video games, props to id Software.
“We are thrilled to be working with Bethesda on Prey 2. Prey 2 will provide gamers the opportunity to explore a new facet of the Prey universe, one that offers fast-paced action in an open, alien world. We’re excited to show gamers the title we have been working on and hope they will be as excited by this title as we are,” says Chris Rhinehart, project lead.
More details will be released in the May issues of Official Xbox Magazine and PlayStation: The Official Magazine. So stay tuned!

ZeniMax/Bethesda new MMO?
ZeniMax Online is hiring a hundred of new staff members to be a part of a MMO support centre in Galway, Ireland…that can only mean one thing………a new online game launch!
We do know that Bethesda Softworks sister company ZeniMax Online Studios is coming out with a new MMORPG but it could be closer to being done than we had originally anticipated. The job posting for the new MMO support centre explains that they are to be “providing support for future massively multiplayer online games.”
The core of the job details that they will be delivering assistance to online players in Europe. As per previous speculation via GameSpot, it is thought that ZeniMax’s MMORPG will be set in the Elder Scrolls universe. It is also said that this MMORPG will be somewhat like Blizzard’s World of Warcraft.
Originally I would have anticipated that the game would have taken place within Fallout’s universe but with the recent lawsuit that’s been going on, I doubt that’s ever going to happen.

Devil May Cry's Dante/Hunted: The Demon's Forge/Skyrim News!
Happy Tuesday everyone, big news for you today! I'm going to be doing a "morph-post" of sorts, with three different pieces of information in one.
There have been a lot of talk about video games now turning into movies and I'm personally glad that someone's catching on to the need that we have to see our favourite characters being immersed into a live action film where we can sit and enjoy them without a controller for at least a hour and a half. This proves no different for Screen Gems who just bought the film rights to Capcom's Devil May Cry.Our favourite demon hunter Dante will be thrown into a deep and twisted plot thanks to Kyle Ward (Kane & Lynch) who has been assigned to write the movie. Screen Gems is hoping that they can emmulate the video game/movie crossover Resident Evil and create a movie series of Devil May Cry.

The only question on our minds is if they will decide to use the classic or new version of Dante. Basically whether they decide to go with bad ass Japanese anime style Dante or the new age emo version of Dante. We're guessing they'll go with the latter considering that Edward Cullen has had such a wonderful impression on the kids of today, since there's nothing better than a soul tortured vampire haha.
The movie is quite obviously extremely early in production and so we don't have many updates on it right now, but we will be sure to keep you updated!
By now we've all heard of Hunted: The Demon's Forge, Bethesda's new baby that they will be releasing on June 1st. We were lucky enough to get the details on who will be taking the part of voice acting for one of the main character's, Seraphine. Do you remember Xena or maybe the gorgeous Lucretia from Spartacus? Yeah, Lucy Lawless will be taking the part of Seraphine in the video game. "After playing the heroine for so long it's refreshing to portray such a villainous, seductive temptress!" the actress said.
Now for more Skyrim news, the trailer is officially available on Xbox Live for you to download and view on your HDTV.
There's also a My Little Pony/Skyrim mash up is available for you to enjoy on the internet, maybe it'll hold off any needs until 11.11.11 though I doubt that watching a 2:50 minute video is going to relieve the need.
Oh boy I sound like an addict.......

Rage takes place on Earth which happens to be in a post apocalyptic state after being destroyed in less than 26 seconds. By the time that a year is up, 80% of life is eliminated from Earth and due to a copious amount of toxic elements. Within a year, a terrible and drastic winter falls upon the planet, blanketing it in extreme darkness and it lasts for 50 years.

Prior to the near extinction of Earth, the humans built arks and buried them deep under the ground in an attempt to save everyone from the devestating effects of what was to come. These arks are humanity's last hope, they are equipped with all of the necessary tools that the humans need to rebuild their future, without them all hope would be lost.
Eventually, those who were kept safe on the Arks begin to emerge to the surface once again and they are greeted by two very different surprises. One surprise being that a lot of humans actually survived the devestating blow to planet Earth, and the other surprise being that the other half became evil mutant beings and they now roam the 'dead cities'. On top of all of that, a new and tyrannical government is created and their on the hunt, for you.
Normally, I would say that the plot for this is unique but if you have ever played another one of Bethesda's games, Fallout 3, you would see how similar the plots are.
Let me explain it for those of you who have yet to play it.

Fallout 3 is a very extensive free roaming RPG created by Bethesda. In the game, the entire world is basically a nuclear fallout zone due to atomic bombs. Throughout the game you begin to realize that your father was developing this wonderful invention called the purifier that would be used to get rid of all of the radiated and mutated monsters in the world and change everything back to the way that it was. Once you find the device, the government, also known as The Enclave begin a search for you and you basically have to evade them and try to save the world...in a nutshell.
Though the story for Rage is anything but unique, I would still be prone to play it solely because I enjoyed the storyline for Fallout 3.

In Rage, you will be able to create your own weapons which is awesome and useful. With most video games you can repair your weapons or find pre-built ones but I have yet to see a game where you can create weapons out of anything that you find. I think that it'll make an awesome contribution to the game and I'm excited to see what kind of assault rifle mods I can get out of it.
Alright so, we have three major guys that are responsible for the creation and production of this game and they are: John Carmack (technical director), Tim Willits (lead designer) and Matt Hooper (design director). John Carmack has worked on games such as Hovertank 3D, Catcomb 3D, and Wolfenstein 3D. He has also pioneered the first-person-shooter genre and helped id Software to get to where they are today. Tim Willits worked on Doom and created a ton of levels within the game and that's how his career began.
Now, this is where things can get a little confusing. Rage is set to be released for CONSOLES on the 13th of September, 2011. Right now though, there is a little sneak peek available for you guys on your iPod touch, iPhones and iPads. Rage HD is available for your downloading pleasure. Of course it's not going to be as in depth as the game itself but it's similar. In the mobile device version you will be able to fight against hungry mutants in order to complete heart pounding levels and collect cash rewards. If you're interested in getting a taste of what Rage is going to bring to the table, download Rage HD now!
As of right now there isn't much being said about the game other than the fact that id Software and Bethesda will be working together on this mini miracle so I'm going to have to leave you guys without a video today.
We'll be sure to keep you posted!

On the BRINK of war.
Scheduled for a release of Spring 2011, BRINK is a game that isn't really being talked about a whole lot. It is a first person shooter made by the British game development team Splash Damage and published by Bethesda, and uses the id Tech 4 engine, designed by John Carmack, used in games such as Doom 3, Prey, and Wolfenstein.
Brink focuses heavily on character and weapon customization, which should bring and endless challenge and "new" feel to each game, single player and multiplayer alike.
The big thing with Brink is it has a new and innovative way of movement in-game, which Splash Damage has called "S.M.A.R.T. (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) System". It adds a really new and interesting way to jump, slide, jump, etc... around insane obstacles, parkour-style, although similar to what we've seen in Mirror's Edge.
You may play as one of four class types: Soldier, Medic, Engineer, and Operative, each with their own usefulness and unique style.
In Brink, play as the Security or the Resistance in a war on a floating city known as The Ark. The Ark, was supposed to be a small paradise city with renewable resources, no pollution, and large enough for 5,000 residents. However, it's grown to be over populated, now with 50,000 residents, and not enough resources to go around.
With Brink's S.M.A.R.T. parkour-style movement system, fully customizable characters and weapons, this should be an experience you should not miss out on. Keep your eyes and ears open for Brink, as it is scheduled to hit the shelves sometimes this Spring.
And with that, I will leave you with this teaser trailer.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge
Set to be released on 6/1/11 and published by Bethesda Softworks, is another game titled Hunted: The Demon's Forge. There is very little talk throughout the gaming community about this game, which makes the thought of purchasing it even more enticing.
From what our sources say, the story revolves around two main characters: E'lara and Caddoc. Both characters are soldiers in battle and they journey around the world on a mission to find villagers that have been disappearing ever since corrupted and heinous creatures have been emerging from the depths of the Earth. In a nutshell, it's a protagonist/antagonist clash between heroes and villains. Even the premise of this plot sounds promising, even with the limited amount of information given to us at this time.
As for the game play, the game will not only have a single player story mode but it will also be accompanied by a co-op multiplayer WITHOUT split screen. I've heard of millions of co-op multiplayer games with split screen but I have yet to experience a game where you don't have to worry about how tiny your screen is, and who's player is on the top half or the bottom half. At least there won't be any debates about 'screen peeking'.
Let's talk a little more about the characters.
E'lara is an elf who specializes with bows and light weaponry, she is a fighter from the very depths of her soul and is extremely hostile and dangerous. Her part in the plot is that her fellow villagers were murdered by creatures deemed 'minotaurs' when she was a young girl and she was the only survivor of the massacre. Her specialized weapon is a bow called 'Sky Splitter' and her specialized spell is called 'Dragons Breath.'
Caddoc is most definitely the strongest out of the duo, he is a fierce warrior who wields a frightening weapon titled the Brutal Cudgel. Caddoc is calm and collected but is extremely intellectual in every aspect of his life. When he was a young boy, a harsh and rash decision that he made forced him to lose his lover and therefore he watches every step that he takes and makes sure that every move that he makes is a good one. Ever since the accident where he lost the love of his life, he refuses to get emotionally attached to those he saves. As for the villains/the monsters, we'll give you a small list so you can get a taste of what you are to experience. There are frightening Demons, they are the most feared creature in the game because they are created out of pure evil. The second creature that you should be wary of are Wargar Guardians. They are known to hide underground but as the days have gotten darker, they have been known to walk above ground now. They worship their Queen, the Queen of Darkness.
Overall you can expect similar gameplay as Gears of War with the RPG aspect but focussing more so on the co-operative elements of the game, with a unique take on a plot.
Take a look at the trailer via (Machinima) and stay tuned for our next update.
Enjoy!

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

This is something that I have been wanting to talk about ever since I found out about the soon to be release of the new chapter of the 16 year old Elder Scrolls series, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The Elder Scrolls series could easily be classified under one of the most well thought out and well planned RPGs for both consoles and the PC, by far.
I myself have played Morrowind and Oblivion a countless amount of times, I've also dabbled within Fallout 3, another game provided by Bethesda and I have yet to be dissappointed. My video game knowledge majors within free roaming rpg's and so my brain nearly exploded when I became aware of the release of another Bethesda Game Studios classic, which is destined to be released on 11.11.11.
Though Fallout 3 was an amazing game that I was lucky enough to be able to play, the scenery got a little old. Having to look at an atomic wasteland for hours on end does do quite a trick to the brain and to the emotions. Villages and cities made out of scraps from airplanes and anything else that they could scavenge tends to be a little depressing. With that being said, I can happily say that I am excited to be thrown into the fantasy realm that Oblivion offers to its players, I cannot wait to want to live in a video game again.
Elder Scrolls V is supposed to be a direct sequel from Oblivion, the game where you had to go on a quest to close the gates to Oblivion in Kvatch and travel the entire world to finish a copious amount of quests and meet a copious amount of new acquaintances.
Though the synopsis for the video game is unknown, via the video on elderscrolls.com, there is something to do with a dragon lord and other various fantasy related terms that are used throughout the promo.
There are also words going around that there was a trademark filed for an Oblivion movie. The trademark that was filed on August 17th 2010 covers "Motion picture film production; entertainment services, namely, providing motion picture theatrical films in the field of fantasy games." (IGN). That's more than any fanboy/fangirl could ever ask for, a way for them to actually be able to see their game being played for them, right in front of their eyes.
The anticipation for this game is ridiculously overwhelming so I'll post a video of the promo for you all to indulge in.
Enjoy!
