U.S. Senate Takes A Stand Against Sony

The chaotic mess that we’ve come to know as the PSN meltdown has prompted Richard Blumenthal, the Connecticut senator, to take a stand and reach out to Sony to express just how disappointed he is.  I’m sure that they knew they had it coming considering that the opening sentence of his email was as follows: “I am troubled by the failure of Sony to immediately notify affected customers of the breach and to extend adequate financial data security protections.”

That, is most definitely true.  Considering that they knew about the breach on the 19th, they could have at least sent out a courtesy email.  Regardless of whether it took until 2 days ago for their “experts” to figure out just how far the breach had gone, I would have still liked to receive some sort of alert warning me that my credit card information COULD HAVE been stolen.

I’m curious as to whether anyone has actually been involved in this and lost any money, I’m also curious to see what date it was that the fraudulent transactions were made, just to see how quickly these hackers were be able to work.  So how about you find one person who has lost some money due to this, VGL?

Either these hackers were really going after the credit card info or they were just testing the waters to see how far they could get.  The need to build “e-rep” is outrageously popular amongst all hackers alike and so maybe this wasn’t because they were out to get your money, but more so to impress their fellow e-friends or to get back at Sony.

PSN Down for Devs

There are two separate types of PSN servers, you have the ones for general users and then one for developers.  Unless you work at a video game development company, you will be classified as a "general user."

We all know that the PSN has been down for an entire week for "general users" and guess what?  Now it's down for the devs as well.

Today, Sony issued an emergency maintenance message on the PSN for the devs to see stating that they will be unable to sign into the PSN until the emergency maintenance has been resolved.

This down time would have been the perfect time for the devs to create and test their patches/DLC without the general public breathing down their neck solely because we cannot get into our PSN's anyway so we're not going to be pressuring anyone to put out any products.

Unfortunately though, we're all in the same boat and if Sony keeps at it, neither group will get their hands on the PSN for a while longer.

Sony Presents S1 and S2

Apple did it with the iPad and now Sony’s going to be doing it with a pair of Android-enabled tablets for this upcoming fall.

There haven’t been many details announced but we do know that the first tablet will be code named S1 and the second, S2.  S1 will have a 9.4 inch screen, cameras on both the front and the back of the device and it will be able to communicate with other Sony devices by using an infrared sensor.  As for S2 it will have dual screens and it has two 5.5 inch displays and the bottom one will allow you to use touch screen technology.

Both of these tablets will run on Android 3.0 and will be enabled to connect to any wi-fi/3G/4G networks and both will have Tegra 2 processors.

The best part?

They’re both PlayStation certified which means that PlayStation will be able to put their games in a mobile/tablet format and you will be able to play them on these puppies.

Six Axis Turned Gun?

Playstation’s six axis controller has more than one use for owners, apparently they can sub as a “weapon.”  Cameron Pittman, 20, was arrested earlier this week for attempting a robbery on a convenience store with his Playstation 3 controller.  It happened in St. Petersburg, Florida when the 20 year old male was apprehended by the police after feigning to have a gun in his pocket.

During the robbery, the police officer walked into the store and arrested the suspect, soon after he surrendered and dropped the controller.  Pittman will be facing strong-arm robbery charges and charges towards violation of probation.
